Touhy, James and Rob Warden. Greylord: Justice, Chicago Style. New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1989.

Date: 3 January 2003

This is an interesting and fun account of the disturbing Operation Greylord, a 1980s federal effort to prosecute a litany of corrupt judges and court officers in the Cook County (Chicago) justice system. The operation resulted in the conviction of around 10 judges, 40 attorneys, and 20 court personal (including polices officers and sheriff deputies).

I was staggered by the extent of the judges' greed and arrogance, humored by some of the more creative F.B.I. stings, and comforted by the ultimate conviction of these worst kind of criminals.
